Our Story
THE BEGINNING
For more than 35 years, Billy D's has been a Shelton staple… the kind of place where generations of customers stop in for a great breakfast, a familiar face, and a meal that leaves you with exactly what the name promises: a full belly. It started with Bill Distassio, who built the deli around good food, fair prices, and a real connection to the community as well as the famous Doubler that people still talk about years later. Over the decades, Billy D's became more than a place to grab a sandwich; it became part of people's routines, a stop before work, a Saturday morning tradition, and a local favorite that families introduced to the next generation.
A NEW CHAPTER — 2020
In 2020, we, Tiffany, Julian, and Aj had the opportunity to take over a business that already meant so much to Shelton. We knew from the beginning that we didn't want to change what made Billy D's special. So, we poured our hearts into preserving the traditions people loved while giving the deli some extra TLC and making it our own. We kept the classics and the commitment to serving great food at a fair price and added some extras.
BILLY D'S GROWS — 2023
In 2023, we grew the Billy D's family by opening a second location in Milford. We've grown beyond our original Shelton home, but the heart of Billy D's hasn't changed. Whether you visit us in Shelton or Milford, our goal is simple: serve good food, treat people like family, and keep the Billy D's tradition going for generations to come.
TODAY
Today, Billy D's remains proudly family owned and operated. What started as a beloved little Shelton deli has become our family's prized possession, and we're grateful for every customer who's supported us along the way. It's a place where our regulars are known by name and new customers quickly become familiar faces.
